Computers are playing a more indispensable role in many aspects of life, with education being no exception. There has been a controversial debate over whether computers will replace teachers in classrooms in the future. I strongly believe that teachers are never irreplaceable for the reasons to be mentioned.

On the one hand, it cannot be denied that computers are an efficient teaching tool. Computers have enabled the application of Smart TV or projector’s presentations in classrooms. Teachers now can even get access to the Internet right during the class to provide students with updated information. A modern classroom where a laptop is put on the teacher’s desk, connected to a smart TV is not weird today.

On the other hand, computers can hardly replace teachers in teaching. This is simply because they are purely machines that can never be compared to human beings’ intelligence and flexibility. Education always requires human mutual interact; and teaching is an art that can be created only by teachers, not by emotionless machines. Never can computers show emotions, namely happiness, anger, strictness, or encouragement, like teachers. Computers, however smart they are, can be only teachers’ production tool. Teachers, with their flexibility, can also differentiate learners’ levels, and thus applying appropriate teaching methods.

In conclusion, though the role computers play in education is undeniable, they can never be compared to teachers and thus can never replace them. Teachers will always be the key to determine success of the teaching art.
