Task 2: Many people argue that in order to improve educational quality, high school students are encouraged to make comments or even criticism on their teachers. Others think it will lead to loss of respect and discipline in the classroom.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
People have different views whether juvenile students should be encouraged to evaluate or criticize their teachers. While an indiscipline and disrespect attitude in the class may be the aftermath of this petition, I believe that this could lead to improved educational quality.
On the one hand, people are opposed of students criticizing teachers because they believe this could lead a lack of discipline in the classroom and a lack of respect for teachers. Children are immature, inexperienced, and impulsive; they are not fully able to distinguish what the right or wrong things to do. If teachers give them the rights to raise their voice on any issue, they can give the false impression on many things, including the teachers. For instance, when childlen see their peers criticizing the teachers heavily, they might imitate and gradually lose respects for teachers. Therefore class is filled with indiscipline and disrespect attitudes.
On the other hand, it is perhaps more important to enhance the educational standard that involves evaluating and being evaluated. This could make children interact more with others, therefore becoming more proactive in studying. That many countries nowadays promote the teaching method with the two-way communication basically means open discussions between students and their teachers. Teachers could also be of benefit as it is a perfect chance for them to boost their pedagogical skills. As a result, they can get to know their children better and earn respects from them.
In conclusion, I can understand why people might not want their children to make any criticism or evaluation on the teachers, but it seems to me that this could benefit the educational system as a whole.
