The range and quality of food that we can buy has changed because of technological and scientific advances. Some people regard this change as an improvement, while others believe that it is harmful.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

People have different views about the influence of technology and science on what we eat every day. While there are good reasons why it might have an adverse effect, I personally believe that this trend should be seen as progress.

On the one hand, there are several reasons why it could be argued that there are risks involved in application of scientific knowledge in producing food. Firstly, this may contribute to massive effects on whole ecosystems. One particularly good example of this is that modified genes in engineered crops can make them resistant to predators. As a result, food chain is more likely to be broken as insects and pests are unable to exploit their food source. Secondly, another problem is that under-developed countries tend to become more dependent on other communities. This can be due to the fact that it is usually the large companies of the developed world that are able to produce such crop engineering, which in turn increase the dependence of poor countries.
One the other hand, I would agree with those who believe that this trend is a great breakthrough for mankind. Over the past decade, global food demand has risen more rapidly and supply may not keep pace with demand. However, new technologies have also made important contributions to increasing the yields of many farmers, helping them produce crops that grow bigger and faster. For example, genetic modification, which is a practice of manipulating the genes of an organism,

In conclusion, there are convincing arguments both for against the impact of science development on food, but I would argue that this is much more beneficial to people.
