There are many different types of music in the world today. Why do we need music? Is the traditional music of a country more important than the international music that is heard everywhere nowadays?

It is true that these days, there are a rich variety of music genres in the world and international music is becoming much more popular, especially in young people. Music is a vital part of life because of various reasons. In my opinion, traditional music should be given more importance than international music.
There are two main reasons why music is a necessary part of human existence. Firstly, the true beauty of music is that it connects people across ages, ethnicities and walks of life. Music is a language that is there when normal language is of little use, a powerful means of conveying feelings and something that every culture has in common. Secondly, music has a psychological impact on people, helping people get more comfortable. For example, students can fight stress after a long day at school with just a hit of the play button, soothing music is especially helpful to make kids relax, or sometimes music might encourage people to think outside the box to solve problems more easily.
It appears to me that traditional music is a national treasure in need of preservation. This is a way to express cultural identity, reflect a country’s customs and history. In my country, “Ca trù” is a popular folk music, which has been recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible cultural heritage. Not only Vietnamese younger generations but also many foreigners are attracted to the unique rhythms and singing method of Ca Trù. If one day traditional music disappeared, there would be a great loss of what is called country’s pride as people would only listen to international music which changes constantly and is unable to connect us to the past.
In conclusion, it is undeniable fact that life would be pointless without music and I believe that traditional music should be valued over the international music
