Some people think that managers alone should make decisions in the company, while others think that employees should be involved in the decision-making process too. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
It is no doubt that the role of managers is vital within company especially when It comes to strategic planning. Although some believe managers should make decisions alone, others think it is better to have employees participating in the decision- making process too. In my view, the latter is the better approach but managers should be the decision maker at the end.
On the one hand, I believe that better decision can be achieved when employees are involved in company planning process. It is often that group discussion produces the best outcome due to the fact that it has multiple inputs, which might potentially be great ideas for the growth of the company. Managers may not come up with such ideas themselves and it would lead to failing in achieving goals. Also, this approach potentially triggers people’s self-actuation and feeling of being a part of the company. As the result, by having employees in decision-making process, the chance of achieving best outcome increases and at the same time, employees’ productivity and motivation are enhanced.
On the other hand, the decision maker at the end of the process should be mangers. It is obvious that managers constantly receive many good ideas during the discussion with employees. By deciding on which idea is the best to put into practice, managers would gain respect and authority from people within the company. Additionally, managers are the only ones, who possess deep understandings of what is best align with company’s culture and goals. Thus, it is important managers decide on the plan and approach for the company’s future.
In conclusion, while having employees participating in decision-making process can help achieving the best results, I believe that the decision has to made by managers.
