Bài mẫu Band 8.0 cho đề Task 2 tuần này: 16/05/2015 đến từ IPP IELTS

Task 2: Many people argue that in order to improve educational quality, high school students are encouraged to make comments or even criticism on their teachers. Others think it will lead to loss of respect and discipline in the classroom.

Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

There has been a heated controversy on whether high school students should be free to evaluate and criticise their educators. While some people think that disrespect and indiscipline are the unavoidable aftermath of this approach, I would contend it would result in increased educational quality.

On the one hand, there is a common belief that enabling students to judge teachers may undermine students’ sense of respect and discipline. High school students are generally immature, inexperienced and impulsive; they tend to lose their temper and overreact each time they are disciplined by the teachers. The problem is even worse when all the students see their peers criticising the teachers. They may think of such action as a right way to behave and start to imitate it. As a result, the classroom learning environment can be filled with disrespect and indiscipline.

On the other hand, I side with those who believe that giving students the total freedom in expressing their thoughts and feelings towards teachers may enhance educational standards. Many countries are promoting students-centred teaching with two-way communication, where open discussions between teachers and students are encouraged. This approach has a clear advantage of making students become proactive in studying. It also provides teachers with a chance to better their pedagogical skills by receiving feedbacks from students. By this way, both the learners and the educators can achieve higher academically.

In conclusion, the educational of encouraging high school students to judge their teachers may undoubtedly lead to enhanced academic achievements, despite the possibility that a disrespectful and undisciplined attitude amongst the class.

Over the past few decades, the improvement of education has never failed to draw public's attention. Many adopt a view that to improve quality of education, it is necessary to invite the input of students and seek their comments. This suggestion has my support.

Firstly, it is important to recognise that student's judment is creditable, impartial. In fact, regular interaction and communication give students opportunities to comprehend strengths and weaknesses of teachers' performances. Not only does such feedback help teachers to enhance their competence, but also enables them to adjust teaching methods. Therefore, students' participation in teachers' appraisal is hardly recommended as their ratings are reliable, unbiased.

Secondly, students' assessments are instrumental to evaluate as to whether teachers are fully commited to his or her job. As a result of poor performances from teachers, the quality of outcomes could be affected seriously and negatively. Insignificant as they are, some factors as puntuality, legibility exert profound influences on adopting knowledge of students. Such issues could be reflected deeply by students who are participants.

Notwithstanding the above mentioned, the analysis of students should be handled carefully and sensibly. The misinterpretation and misunderstanding of students' opinions is a grave mistake, it could lead to inaccurate picture of teachers's ability. Furthermore, they are subject to the feeling to powerlessness when school gives high weight to students' comments and gives low weight to their justifications. Such problem may result in loss of respect and decepline or disoder in classroom.

In conclusion, provided that students' input is analised properly, students' judments on their teachers' performances can provide important sources of information to evaluate teachers.

There is circling an argument that students in bachelor could be animated to comment or criticize their teachers in order to make better the educational condition. Though I have to accept that by doing this, the respect and discipline in the classroom could be broken down, but I still believe that this could be one of the measures to increase the quality of education.

First, it is seem to me that everything has double effects. The negative result of giving faculty to students to comment or even criticize their teacher without a limit is that it could cause lack of respect and discipline in the classroom. For example, with this tool in the hands, some students will feel like a boss of their teacher and they probably abuse this power to put their teacher under a high pressure, and even control them. In turn, the teachers to avoid criticism would not punish the student’s bad behave.

However, if the students could present their opinions about how they would like the lesson developed, it will be very useful for the teacher. Basing on the student’s approach, the teacher could find out a good way to make their lectures more alive and then could attract student’s attention. As an illustration, the students could indicate that they feel boring with the nonstop talking class of history, and they would like to see a video or visit o museum instead of it. As a result, the teacher could organize an excursion considering the student’s idea. By doing this, the history class could become much more interesting.

In conclusion, a constructive comment of the students on their teachers could be certainly a way to get better the educational quality.

The way teachers inspire knowledge to their students has a great influence to shape up these students in the future. However, there has been a question that should or should not students evaluate their teachers. Some probably argue that it may a sensible problem and students had better not do anything harming the delicate relationship between them and teachers. For me, conversely, I think that sending feedback about teaching is a good idea and may provide many benefits to the whole educational system.

To begin, I believe that evaluating activity is a useful method in order to reflect the students’ thinking about how well their teachers inspire lessons. We all accept the fact that there always exists good and bad teachers and even the good teachers usually have shortages. Nobody is perfect. For this reason, by means of evaluation, students could directly state teachers' weaknesses and shortages. Through that, teachers understand what students need and build up a new appropriate way of teaching. Additionally, evaluating is a way that praises the students’ responsibility. It one way provides their feeling of self-consciousness, other way, makes them be responsible for what teacher doing toward them..

However, this right may lead to negative effects that may seriously harm the relationship between students and their teachers. Bad students probably misuse it to send abusive comment toward their unfavorable teachers. Negative comments probably affect other students’ views about teachers even if they try to make students understand them. Teachers may sometimes get mistakes or their ways of teaching are not effective enough to inspire passionate of learning toward students. However,  it is unreasonable if students deliberately exaggerate these minor problems just because the teacher is not of their liking. Imagine when teacher discover this thinking, they self-respect would be hurt that may lead to loss of enthusiasm in teaching. As a result, the relationship between teachers and students would become worst and the whole educational quality would be badly influenced.

In conclusion, I encourage evaluating activities of students toward their teachers. However, evaluation should be based on the respect and constructive purposes. Therefore, once students and teachers respect each other, the entire educational quality would be enhanced significantly.

People have different views about solutions to improve quality of education. While some people agree with the idea that high school students should be encouraged to assess or criticize their teachers. I believe that this initiative could create some disadvantages for the education sector and they should be strictly controlled.

To begin with, those who believe that assessments of students should enhance the quality of education have quite convincing reasons for it. Firstly, there are two main activities taking place regularly in school are teaching and learning, which means that assessments should be carried out from two sides to obtain justice. In other words, students should have the right to judge their teachers because this action would create democracy in high school. Secondly, through results which are processed from judgments of students, teachers would know their strengths and weaknesses which are important foundations for them to improve teaching methodology and qualification later on.

Likewise, other people believe that students should not have the right to comment or criticize their teacher because of several main reasons. One reason is that student who are not mature people could give incorrect comments about their teachers. This possibility would happen if student was prejudiced against their teachers or student's assessments depend on other's ideas. In this case, judgments of students would become insignificant or even dangerous. Another reason is that this action could break the close relationship between students and their teachers. Teacher would meet less often their students to avoid showing their weaknesses and vice versa. Clearly, a bad result assessment could affect negatively teacher's salary and job satisfaction.

In conclusion, in my opinion, i believe that encouraging students to comment their teachers would express the advancement in education sector. This activity would bring huge benefits for education in the world through improving quality of not only learning but also teaching  . However, this assessment should be closely controlled to avoid losing the traditional rules in high schools.
