The bar chart gives information about the number of minutes of telephone calls in UK in total, which are categorized into 3 different types in a period of 7 years, from 1995 to 2002.

As is observed, the numbers for local calls fluctuated and has the tendency to fall. However, there is a gradual increase in the total call time of long distance calls and a sharp rise is seen in mobile calls.

Taking the period of 1995 to 1999 into account, it is clear that all 3 types has the same trend. In 1999, Calls in local area dominated with nearly 90 billion minutes spent. the number proved larger than that of the other two combined, only a humble 65 billion minutes. The number of local calls rose by 20 billion units, though only a 10 units rise was recorded in mobiles

From year 2000 on, a significant change began. starting with the local calls, a visible decrease is observed, 90 billion units went down by 85 billions. The number continued to decline until 2002, when the total minutes spent calling locally being over 70 billion. On the other hand, mobile calls made a quantum leap after almost doubling year 1999's figures in year 2000. In 2002, the rise didn't seem to stop as totall mobile calls received went up to over 40 billion minutes long..
