It is obvious that these days, children are developing harmful ways of life. Specifically, they would rather spend time indoors, playing video games, chatting or video calling with friends, or scrolling through all kinds of social networks. Besides, while conducting these new kinds of entertainment, the kids tend to consume more unhealthy meals instead of good food like fruit, or vegetables. There are opinions that state it is the responsibility of school as well as parents. From my point of view, I partly go along with this statement.
The first thing to look at is the responsibility of parents which plays the most vital role in building children’s conceptual world as children spend most of the time with their family. In particular, it is necessary for parents to have awareness of spending valuable time with their kids so that everyone in the family will have chances to mutually understand each other. Especially nowadays, with the development of technologies, we cannot deny the fact that they are being overly taken advantage of. It is absolutely common to see so many people being focused on their phones, tablets, or even computer screens, especially adults at home. Consequently, by wasting so much time on screen, they mostly forget about their real life, face-to-face relationships which include ones with their children. Meanwhile, as the parents are using up their time online, their children have a tendency to follow their footstep, to spend time on an unreal world instead of establishing concerns about the surrounding world. Therefore, the unhealthy lifestyle that the kids are now practicing should be a ringing bell to all parents that they have to keep in mind they are the samples for their children.
Also playing as an important element in educating a child, schools have to take their account for the circumstance. While families help build young generations’ concept of the world, schools help put them in a proper direction. By holding suitable learning schemes, educational organizations can provide their students opportunities to approach, practice, and develop healthier lifestyles. For instance, after school clubs, programs with active or artistic activities are able to stimulate students to establish better habits and flourish their mind abilities. As a result, they will gradually shift away from awful routines that are being conducted.
On the other hand, this reality also depends on children themself. Through maturation time, they improve their conscience with the ability to distinguish right from wrong. Therefore, they can gradually tell which is a good or bad habit. The problem is whether they try to discard the bad routines or not. For example, even if being raised and educated in an ideal environment, most of the kids still choose to live an unhealthy life by wasting time on useless activities and sticking their faces to the screen.
To conclude, though families and schools take a great responsibility in developing and nurturing young generations, we cannot deny that children themselves need to be conscious of their own behaviours and improve their lifestyle.
