The first pie chart provides information about the use of energy for a variety of purposes in an average Australian family, and the second chart illustrates the proportion of greenhouse gas emissions released from these types.

It is apparent that on average a household in Australia takes use of energy for heating mainly, while the largest percentage of greenhouse gas is generated from water heating.

Regarding the first pie chart, 42% of energy is spent on heating, followed by water heating with 30%. In contrast, Australian family takes a marginal amount of energy for lighting and cooling, with only 4% and 2% respectively while refrigeration and other appliances account for 22% of energy consumption in total.

In terms of the second chart, water heating causes more greenhouse gas emissions than other uses, shown in its well over one-third in percentage. Similar to the first chart, cooling and lighting generate the least amount of the greenhouse gas, representing 3% and 8%. The figures for refrigeration and heating in releasing greenhouse gas are nearly the same though the use of heating is much higher than that of refrigeration; whereas there is 28% of greenhouse gas emissions resulting from other appliances.
