In the age of digital 4.0, people have more chances to access online communication application that makes social media becomes become an integral part of daily life and may substitute in-person interaction among human. However, in my point of view, social media still has many downsides over its benefits brought to our lives.
On the one hand, it is undeniable that online communication contributes to improving human’s interaction. Firstly, thanks to social networks, people can keep in contact with their families who live far from them. For instance, students who are studying abroad can keep in touch with their loved ones by easily using virtual conversational exchanges such as video calls or texts. Moreover Secondly, online meetings benefits from social media apps, such as Facebook, Whatsapp or Tumblr. Because of a great deal of Thanks to a huge number of powerful tools, online communication makes international congresses much easier than traditional meetings, especially when Covid-19 viruses have been spread from one territoty to another, causing significant casualties.
On the other hand, despite the aforementioned advantages, social media has degraded the general quality of communication. First of all, online conversations reduce the quality of interaction using verbal languages. Because users have a habit of using abbreviated words on social networks, they become frequently using those words in formal writing not able to communicate by formal sentences. Besides, networking has some negative impacts on young users. Due to the overuse of online communication, young people may be under adult’s impression. (Đoạn này không có rõ nè)

In addition, many people are so addicted to social networking sites that they constantly stare at their screens during dinners with their families without actually paying attention to the people around them. In conclusion, social media has brought unprecedented conveniences to communicate with other people from different geographic locations. However, I believe that the disadvantages are stronger than the advantages if we are over-reliant on this way of communication.
