The line graph illustrates how car ownership in the UK changed over the course of 30 years, starting in 1975.

It can be seen that the proportion of people who owned two or three cars increased while that of those who had no car decreased. Also, one-car ownership always registered by far the highest figure over the time shown.

Looking at the paragraph in more detail. In 1975, the percentage of people who had one car stood at 45%. This figure declined considerably to approximately 38% in 1985 and then increased slightly by 7% in 2005. An opposite trend was witnessed in the percentage of people having no car, which fell sharply to 25% in 1985 and continued to decreased to just over 22% for the rest of the period.

The percentages of both two-car ownership and three-car ownership went up over the period shown. Starting at only around 7% and 4% respectively in the first year, while the figure for people who owned two cars rose significantly to 14% the next 10 year, followed by a small increased to 18% in 2005, those owned three cars climbed slowly to 9% at the end of the period.
