Question

The line graph compares four sectors in terms of the amount of acid rain emissions in the UK from 1990 to 2007.

It is clear that the amount of acid rain emissions decreased dramatically over the period of 17 years. Obviously, the significant decline was seen in the sector of electricity, gas and water supply

In the year 1990, about 3,3 million tonnes of acid rain emissions was produced by electricity, gas and water supply sector compared to 2,1 million tonnes from transport and communication sector. The domestic sector was responsible for 0,6 million tonnes, while about 0,7 million tonnes of acid rain emissions came from the other industries sector.

In 2007, the amount of acid rain emissions from the electricity, gas and water supply sector fell considerably to only 0,5 million tonnes, a drop of almost 3 million tonnes while the sectors of other industries and domestic saw a steady decrease. In addition, acid rain emissions came from the transport and communication went slightly, from 2,1 million tonnes in 1990 to 1,25 million tonnes in the year 2007.
