The line graph details the amount of electricity produced using different power sources in France from 1980 to 2012.
From an overall perspective, it is evident that nuclear power was the most popular mean of electricity generation, while renewables provided the lowest amount of electricity over the period shown. Also, both Thermal and Hydroelectric had some minor fluctuation.
In 1980, the amount of electricity generating from Thermal power at about 120 terawatt-hours, approximately 50% above the figure for Nuclear and Hydroelectric power, at 70 terawatt-hours, while renewable provided a negligible amount.
Between 1980 and 2012, Electricity production from nuclear power rose significantly to reach a peak of over 400 terawatt-hours in the last year. In contrast, the figure for Hydroelectric power witnessed a decrease of around 100 terawatt-hours midway through 1990, before increasing slightly to roughly 50 terawatt-hours in 2010. At the same time, while hydroelectric power generation remained relatively stable, the amount of electricity produced by renewables power climbed marginally to around 25% terawatt-hours by the end of the period.
