Today many children spend a lot of time on playing computer games and little time on sports. Why is it? Is it a positive or negative development?

In recent decades, the problem of children spending too much time on playing computer games instead of playing sports has been receiving a great deal of public attention. There certainly are reasons behind this trend and this phenomenon has negative impacts on young generations.

There are several reasons why children spend a large amount of time on computer games. First, in order to attract more players, game developers have created their products with eye-catching graphics. In fact, kids are easily attracted by outstanding colors, which makes them curious about games, leading to be addicted to games. Second, since parents are too busy with work, they do not have much time to play with their children. In fact, instead taking children to the park for outdoor activities, parents have a tendency to keep kids at home to play games, which increases the number of young people spending time on screen.

Spending too much time on playing games can do more harm than good. First, since children sit in a place for too long without movement, they are more likely to adopt a sedentary lifestyle. In fact, if children do not spend time on taking regular exercise or playing sports, they are susceptible to certain diseases, such as, obesity and cardiovascular disease, which in turn reduces to the physical development of children. Second, by playing games without controlling, children will not have enough time for the top priorities, especially for studying and social relationships. In fact, if children spend hours before the computer screen instead of doing class assignments, they may not understand the lessons in class, which makes them fall behind with their studies and experience poor school performance.

In conclusion, playing computer games too much is detrimental to children. By balancing the time of playing games and engaging in outdoor sports, children will enhance both their physical and mental development.
