In this contemporary society, the scenario of housing deficiency, particularly in some metropolises, has triggered off detrimental repercussions. A group of individuals assumes that the government can entirely devote considerable efforts to overcome this issue. From my perspective, I agree with this statement and will discuss it in this essay.
Currently, with the proliferation of population in modern cities, citizens are compelled to live in crowded areas, which results in the scarcity of shelters. In other words, high demand for resident’s premises inevitably leads to the massive emergence of entertaining constructions and various convenient stores; thus, people have to endure the lack of spare land severely. In order to tackle this situation, via social networking platforms and different essential areas of the nation, the government should run campaigns associated with the benefits of living in rural areas and raising individual’s awareness of housing deficiency in big cities in an attempt to propel citizens to reside to suburbs.
Moreover, families who prefer to live in rural areas are deprived of not only necessary facilities, such as hospitals, high-quality educational institutions, which are mostly situated in the center but also generate mobilization problems. For instance, it takes hours for commuters to reach the workplace from the outskirts for their occupations. As a result, the government has to establish appropriate amenities for families living away from the city as well as efficient traffic systems, including underground railways or public transportations, according to the requirements.
Another approach to evade this situation that worth implementing by the authorities is to encourage inhabitants not to build new landed houses but to live in apartment flats, and government subsidization for low-income citizens to live in apartments should be taken into consideration. For instance, the Singapore government has built thousands of high-floor residential flats to accommodate its ever-growing residents in an affordable way. They also stopped permitting for building new landed houses to deal with the space crunch.
In conclusion, it is undeniable that the housing deficit has been a challenging issue in terms of populated cities. Thus, I am firmly convinced that it is the responsibility of the government to take feasible steps to create better-living places that are affordable for the populace.
