In this day and age, there is a growing number of people tending to go shopping on the Internet instead of shopping traditionally. Personally, I believe that this trend has both benefits and drawbacks.

On the one hand, online shopping indeed brings a variety of advantages. Firstly, for people who are too busy to go to a store and to find items, online shopping is a perfect way to do since just by ‘mouse clicks’. Secondly, the Internet provides diverse sources of merchandise. For instance, as general psychology, everybody wants to buy products at the best price, so they compare the stores with each other, while this is difficult to do in physical shops. Finally, it is advantageous that customers are able to know the quality of the item due to  other customers’ experience reviews, thus, they can decide whether to buy it or not.

On the other hand, online purchases can cause unwanted effects. First of all,  the buyers cannot be sure if the sellers sell the products as they advertised. For example, there is a newspaper reporting about an online scam, the title is “Taking advantage of the trust from the user, a Facebook fanpage tricked into selling a cheap mask but delivered only a box of leaves “. Furthermore, online shopping can be hazardous for customers because their personal information such as credit card numbers or names could be stolen. As a result, the purchasers’ identity could be in danger of bad usage of hackers.

In conclusion, while I agree that online shopping brings various benefits for people in the modern world. However, there are some dangerous drawbacks to this trend that everyone should be aware of.
