Question

Cultures are getting similar than in the past. what are the reasons foe this? Is it a positive or negative trend?

       In the last dacades, it seems that the similarities of different cultures have become bigger than they were in the past. I assume that technology development and immigration are two main contributing factors to this trend, and I belive that the trend is totally positive in some certain aspects.

       There are two main reasons why cultures are getting the same. Firstly, owing to the advancement of moderen technology, people are increasingly exposed to different cultures. As a result, a lot of them would follow traditons that they found themselves interested in and even share with other people. For instance, Chistmas was originally known as a holiday of Western countries only, but now it is widespread and becomes a part of some Asian cultures. Secondly, in the 21st century, an influx of international students and immigrants have been witnessed. Not only do they experience different cultures but also bring along their own cultural identities to those countries, resulting in the exchange of various customs and traditions.

       In my opinion, the trend mentioned above is completely positive in some aspects. Initially, it would create a very diverse cultural world in which everyone could share, learn and experience various traditions and customs. Furthermore, the world's economy would be also positively impacted, thanks to the effective cooperation among nations in tourism, which results from the fact that national businesses find things in common.

       In short, many factors including technology development and immigration can make different cultures get more similar than in the past, which I found positive for each individual and the world as a whole.
