In some countries young people are encouraged to work or travel for a year between finishing high school and starting university studies.
Discuss the advantages and disadvantages for young people who decided to do this.
I’m always fascinated by the idea of having a year to go travel and gain new experiences before I come back to university and continue on my study, but to consider clearly, it’s may have some tough problems with young people like me to take a year off. This is a big deal, so I think we need to discover its pros and cons obviously before having a determination.
Firstly, we can’t negative benefits of taking a year off to experience for young people. In fact, over 50% of student don’t even know what is their strengths and what they truly love to do. They just win a place at university because their parents want to and all their friends do that. So, if young people have a year to travel or work, that will be a great opportunity for them to discover the abilities which are hiring in their body, they will know exactly what they have passion in then when return, they have a clearly choice for their study in university. I think a successful person is the one who knows undoubtedly what is their passion, that’s will inspire them to do amazing things.
However, this idea also has a big disadvantage especially for young people in my country. And that’s financial condition of families. Almost young people under 18 years old hasn’t been earning money enough for independent trips, and that’s means their parents must pay for them. A big amount of money like that will shoulder parents and they may not afford for it. Thus at this stage, any job they can do just are waiter, cashier or other blue-collar jobs, and these are not such a good job which will build up necessary skills they need for later career, and these are also meager pay. Every student is suffered 12 tough years to find a ticket for a place in university so nobody wants to be left behind peers.
In conclusion, having a year off maybe a nice idea for anyone who has time and money, it will give them a hole energy before jump up the study in university. Otherwise, if you’re in portion can’t have this experience, don’t worry, you can join in several club or competition in university, that will help you a lot for skills you need later.
