Today, with the proliferation of the Internet, people tend to read online news more regularly than before. Besides, some people believe that traditional newspaper still plays an essential role. Personally, I completely disagree with that opinion for a number of reasons.
On the one hand, the reason why conventional newspapers become any longer popular due to the speed of updating. Newspapers take time for different processes of editing, printing and distributing. This will cause newspapers fail to meet the instant quest for news of modern readers. Meanwhile, online news is constantly updated. With the advent of technology especially the Internet, online websites provide latest information, some online news is broadcasted as the livestream over the Internet. Take BBC or CNN for examples. A number of international events such as breaking news or president elections are lively reported on those channels.
On the other hand, people are likely to read online news with ease. Online news allows readers to seek information on the Internet everywhere just with devices connected WiFi. For instance, when people are sitting in a café and have requirement for reading news, they can surf the Internet to read online news by their mobile phones or computers. In contrast, with traditional newspapers, people have to go to newsstands in order to buy a newspapers. Sometimes newspapers may be out of stock because they are distributed in each batch. Thus, online news is more suitable and convenient than newspapers.
In conclusion, despite the fact that printed newspapers are still regarded as necessary source, I firmly asserted online news’ role in modern life greatly outweighs newspapers in various aspects.
