Some people hold the opinion that children should obey certain rules made by teachers and parents. Others, however, feel that these rules will only limit children’s growth and impact their adult life later.

Discuss both opinions and provide your own view?

People have different views about the effect of rules in children. While numerous people argue that children should be abide by the rules in school and at home, in my opinion, this would be affect to the growth of children and have a negative influence in their adult life later.

At the outset, there are some reasons why children should be obedience of rules. Firstly, children tend to be better behaved if their parents combined warmth with clear and consistent rules and boundaries. To succeed in life, children must learn boundaries, distinguish between right and wrong, and  take on responsibilities. Secondly, what teachers and parents desire for children is to protect children from harm. By maintaining discipline, the risk of accidents would be prevented. For example, children must obey traffic regulations in order to keep safety on the roads. Ultimately, lack of parental discipline is blamed for aggressive and anti-social children. There is no doubt that parents who fail to discipline their offspring properly are creating a generation of angry children who lash out in the classroom.

In my perspective, it would be questionable for the school and family when they put children under rules under several circumstances. The strict rules are likely to have a detrimental impact on children’s health. Eating and drinking are typical examples that children consume more food and water than adults, and young children often have higher intakes of certain food categories, and are more likely to have less variation in their diets. Therefore, parents should not enforce discipline on children diet during childhood. Regarding to autonomy, if children suffered strict rules following by teachers and parents, they find difficulties in making their own decisions in the future.

In conclusion, although some regulations will certainly bring benefits to children, I claim that the strict rules would curb the development of children in long term.
