The graph compares the turnover in dollars from sales of video games for four different platforms including mobiles, online, consoles and handheld devices from 2000 to 2006

It is clear that the sales of games for three out of four platforms grew over the 7 year period. Besides, there was an upward trend in sales figures for handheld games in the given time

In 2000, the market games were dominated by console and handheld games. Worldwide sales of console games stood at approximately $6 billion, while handheld games earned twice as much as ones of consoles, with around $12 billion. Over the following three years, sales of handheld video games enormously increased by about $4 billion. Conversely, the figure for consoles devices significant reduced by $2 billion, while mobile phone and online games became popular, with sales reaching around $3 billion.

Between 2003 and 2006, sales of handheld games rose toward peaks of nearly $18 billion. Sales figures for mobile phone and online devices dramatically increased to $7 billion and $9 billion respectively. By contrast, turnover from console games declined to its lowest point, at around $3 billion.
