Sex equality has always been a controversial topic since the new era of human, especially in education. However, ton of female leaders in the world as Merkel, Theresa May…. are the standard examples for women’s ability. As a result, any discussion about limiting numbers of educational subjects for female or male students should be disqualified.
Until now, there are huge number of people believe that separating boys and girls in every subjects is reasonable for one main reason: women is not able to perceive some general knowledge as men do. It could be true in the past when laws strictly prohibited female citizen to vote, to learn and to work in some primary position in governments. However in recent years, Germany has had their first female minister or in the USA, Hilary Clinton was voted to be the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party. Moreover, after Cameron’s resign as the leader of British government, Theresa May has just taken over his place for a few weeks. They are all women and now hold some significant role in their countries. Hence, those examples proved that sex doesn’t affect at all the ability of each person.
On the other hand, there are now plenty of successful female and male students in different majors. For instance, finance, a subject that was believed “born for men” in hundred years ago, is now changing. The number of girls that want to discover the growth of economy, history of money… has dramatically increased for few years. They also get higher scores then boys do. In contrast, fashion which requires some sensitiveness, beauty and dedication has been followed by more and more male students overtime. A bunch of popular fashion designers are men compared to in the nineteenth century, we only had Marie Antoinette as a fashion icon.
My point of view is that sex equality in all subjects should be encouraged. If we illogically restrict some people just because of their sex, we may not know their real potentials and miss some great talents for our world.
