The graph below shows the proportion of the population aged 65 and over between 1940 and 2040 in three different countries.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

 

The line graph compares figures for the growth of aging population 65 and over from 1940 to 2040 in Japan, Sweden, and USA.

Overall, the population aging 65 and over of USA and Sweden followed upward trends throughout the period of 100 years while this figure of Japan decreased and then rocket up by 2040.

In the 1940-1980 period, the rate of old people in USA and Sweden gradully increased by 6% and 7% each. After that, these percentages have fluctuated during the next 50 years to 18% and 16% respectively. Throughout the remainder of the period, there were soars in the rate of the population aged 65 and over in these two western countries, when they are predicted to reach their highest points at 23% in Sweden and 25% in USA.

By contrast, over the same period, the figure of old aging Japanese population decreased slightly to 2% in 1960 and stabilized at 3% during more than 20 years. From 1985 to 2030, this rate of Japan has gone up significantly by 7% and is expect to rocket up to 27% by 2040, leaving the two counterparts.

Overall, the span of 75 years between 1940 and 2015 saw an increase in the popularity of inhabitants population aged aging 65 and over of in USA and Sweden followed upward trends throughout the period of 100 years. Subsequently, the figure is predicted to continue the upside trend from 2016 to 2040. Meanwhile, the prevalence in Japan decreased in the former period and is expected to reach a peak in the latter one while this figure of Japan decreased and then rocket up by 2040 .

In the 1940-1980 period, the rate of the elder old people in USA and Sweden slightly gradully increased by 6% and 7% in turn each.
