IELTS Task 2: Measuring a country

Question

Topic: Economy is often used to measure a country’s success. However, some people believe that other factors are more important. What other factors could be considered when measuring a country?

          A country’s economic condition is compared with the mirror reflecting its development. Nevertheless, it only reveals a part of a country. Educational system and achievements in entertainment are strongly supported to be the two most considerable criteria in assessing a nation. To prove this true, this essay will look at how the two norms above draw rate setters’ attention.

          Firstly, it can clearly be seen that educational background is able to decide the progressive process of a country. For example, because of being well-known as the hometown of a great number of scientific geniuses, Britain has yearly attracted many foreign investments for researching and become the first decision of overseas students. Having wide and thorough knowledge helps a person develop himself and thereby contribute to build his country prosperous. For this reason, the indispensable role of teaching in judging whether a country is thriving or not has been affirmed.

          Secondly, a country is also evaluated in terms of its entertaining branch. For instance, in a study published in Daily News magazine, Korea took the lead of top 10 worth-living places due to many success in movies and music. Relaxing after a busy time lifts up our minds, brings enthusiasm and eliminates sorrow. Thus, gauging acountry’s amusement industry is one of the key elements to equally appraise it.

          To summarize, both educating and entertaining can be efficient tools for critics to measure a country. In the future, almost every country in the world should take special care of these in order to  improve fast and become wealthier.
