TopicSome people think that only staff who worked in a company for a long time should be promoted to higher positions. Do you agree or disagree? Give your opinion and examples.

Getting a promotion has subtle impact on the employees as not only does it give them the vision of a brighter future, but it also indicates that their effort has been well paid off. Especially, to the senior staff, the promotion has manifold meaning. Therefore, it is reasonable that they are rewarded with a promotion. However, it will be very unfair if the senior employees monopolise it.

To begin with, generally speaking, the senior employees seem to best fit the higher positions as they possess many advantages, which all newbies lack. First and foremost, being a senior, he has already had well-round knowledge about the company’s routine, its perk as well as its weakness. Moreover, in the competition for promotion, the elder staff are far more superior than their inept counterparts  because through the advance of the company, the seniors have gained many specifically invaluable skills that no schools can come to know. Above all, it is loyalty and commitment that all employers want most in their subordinates. Thus, only the members who have been with the company through thick and thin could satisfy that condition.

Yet, it is completely absurd if the boss excludes the newcomers from the race for promotion. Apparently, many newcomers appear to be very young. They are people who are thriving in the thrill of youth seem to have the very potential to motivate other colleagues and the company. Granting them a high position means nurturing new hope for the company, which will bring back unexpected fruits.

In my perspective, a high position has to shoulder heavy responsibility and it is not the only reward the employers can think of. In fact, there are many generous methods that the managers can compensate their employees for their contribution such as increasing the wage or giving them a bonus.

To summarise, the opportunity of promotion should be equally distributed as it is a certain impulse for the company as the whole. Additionally, only by providing the sense of equality can the employers maintain their subordinates’ respect and secure the unity of the company.
