Some countries are struggling with an increase in the rate of crime. Many people thing that having more police on streets is the only way to reduce crime. To what extent do you agree?

These days , the figure for criminals are rising inexorably in numerous countries. Many people argue that adding more police on the streets is exclusive solution, standing a chance of decline these developing status of crime. Personally, I partly agree with this view.

             There are many compelling reasons why police should appear on the streets more  frequently. One reason is that the foremost objective of Police is arresting criminals, hence some kind of street offences such as: pick poketing, shoplifting, traffic offences and  vandalism etc, will be drained. Street offenders will lose the drive to commit crime because the regular attendance of police put a strain on their mentality, and destroy their illegal intentions. Forinstance, Vietnamese Government has added more than 12500 traffic police in over the country, and over 1 years , the number of traffic offences has decreased by approximately 70%. Thus, it is understandable why many people subcribe to the view that police should attend on the streets more usually.

             However, having stringent civil laws can also be a deterent to crime. If there is strict punishment for crime like : murder, corruption, smuggling etc , then criminals can be scared of committing offence. For example, In Singapore, corruption criminals can be put in the prison entire their life or they can even have capital punishment. Therefore, corruption has not been a controversal issues in Singapore for many years. Thus, governments should improve their civil laws and release more types of punishment if they want to reduce the escalation of committing crime.

             In conclusion, I have to reffirm that several feasible solutions can be implemented to remedy the aforementioned issues,  not only adding more police on the streets.
