TOPIC: The government and individuals are spending too much money on national celebrations like new year or festivals. Do you agree or disagree?

It is stated that governments and individuals are spending too much money for national celebrations and festivals. Personally, I partly agree with this statement because of below reasons.

On the one hand, celebrations and festivals are held too much leading to waste money, labor hours to participate in the festivals. Obviously, governments and local authorities are spending a large proportion of their state budget on holding events to celebrate these occasions, while government revenues are derived primarily from taxes of residents. For example, our country has nearly 8,000 festivals a year, on average 21 festivals per a day. Thus, each day there are tens of thousands of jobs suspended and a large amount of expense for festivities. Moreover, individuals also spend a great of money and much time to decorate houses and have parties with their families and friends as their usual habits.

On the other hand, I believe there are great benefits of public spending on national celebrations. Besides being fun, well-managed festivals and events offer a host of economic and social benefits to communities. The economic benefits of festivals are easiest to see because festivals attract visitors, which stimulates the growth of tourism and other businesses in a town or region. Depending on the size of the festival, the economic impact of spend generates income to the region. It can be significant enough to justify and enable more employment positions and opportunities in local businesses and communities. The social benefits of festivals are less visible, but they are important to foster community pride, teach people new things, and strengthen relationships.

In conclusion, spending too much money for holding festivals and celebrations may lead to waste money and time, but some well-managed festivals and events bring economic and social benefits to communities.
