One of the consequences of improved medical care is that people are living longer and life expectancy is increasing. Do you think the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?

Medical support has always been a crucial contributing factor to human life expectancy. Over the past few decades, people have been living longer due to the innovation in medical care quality. In my viewpoint, the benefits of this improvement far outweigh the drawbacks.

It cannot be denied that life expectancy increase has negative effects on the society. Evidently, extended average expectancy has gained the burden on the medical systems worldwide. However, these consequences can be minimized or even solved. For instance, some policies of rising retired age should be adopted. The elderly now could be offered some office jobs in appropriate organizations or play the counseling role in the field they are specialized in.

Furthermore, the advantages of extended life expectancy are also remarkable. First, longevity has been always considered as fortune to individuals. When people live longer, they can spend more time enjoying a happy life with their families; or watching their off-springs grow up and succeed in life. Besides, this may also be an opportunity for children to return the care and the love to their parents. In addition, the longer people live, the more they contribute to the society. They may do charitable work or, as I mentioned above, play the counseling role so that the new generations could manage their commercial organizations better. This will obviously have positive effect on the economy.

In conclusion, despite the fact that medical innovation may lead to some consequences which impact negatively on the society, the benefits of this improvement still outweigh the disadvantages. As long as humanity has proper actions, medical development could be utilized and extended life expectancy would not be a challenge.
