Đề bài: Many people believe that long-term imprisonment is the solution for crimes. However, others feel that psychological assistance is what is required. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
People have different views about whether long-term sentences are the best way to reduce crimes. Personally, I believe that psychological assistance is a more effective solution for this problem.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why people think long-term imprisonment is necessary for crime prevention. Firstly, if people realize that criminals may return to society anytime, they will live in fear. Therefore, criminals should be put in jails for a long time in order to ensure the safety of other citizens in society. Secondly, the message that imprisonment conveys is that people should believe in justice and integrity, and those who commit crimes will be punished properly. Finally, when people feel that they are protected by laws, they will trust their neighbors and feel part of a community. This will help promote people’s welfare.
On the other hand, for three main reasons, I strongly believe that psychological support is the more feasible solution for crimes. One reason is that as people are easily tempted by money, the majority of them may have the idea of committing crimes at least one time in their lives. Therefore, crimminals shoud be given opportunities to re-integrate into society. Also, If prisoners do not receive support, they will be likely to re-offend after they are released. Another reason why prisoners should receive psychological assistance is that some people have their personal reasons to commit crimes. For example, some adolescents pick pockets because their relatives are seriously ill and they have no choice to earn money.
In conclusion, although long-term imprisonment can limit the number of criminals, I believe that the better measure for this problem should be psychological consultation.
