At the present time, people say that children should be grown in the countryside rather than in the big city. However, I disagree with this statement. In my point of view, growing up in a big city contributes far better to a child than growing up in the countryside. I will list some advantages and disadvantages for both of the two, thus it is easier to make the choice.

  As we know, growing up in a big city can help children to get a better chance to receive excellent education. Firstly, most of the outstanding schools, universities,..etc are located in big cities, and studying there can give children easier access to the first-class faculties and facilities. While in the countryside, one cannot guarantee that the quality of the education given there is up to date, children in rural areas will hardly be able to compete in future society. Secondly, all famous hospitals and private clinics are located in the urban area. If there is an emergency, children in the city will benefit in terms of time compared to children in the countryside. Finally, Growing up in a big city also means that the children live in an environment that involves all kinds of people, they will have more knowledge about how to contact or how to behave with other people, getting to know various types of culture and learning to respect each other. It will be a big benefit for them in the future if their job or their life requires communication. But in the countryside, children are restricted from meeting different kinds of people, they just meet their parents, friends or neighbors everyday. It is quite vague how the children will respond to the multi-culture if they step into a much bigger and more complex society one day.

  To summarise, I agree with those people who want to raise their children in a city. The plenty of opportunities offered by a city helps children to find what they really like and be the best at it. Moreover, despite the air pollution, children get better medical service that is good for their health.

However, in the rural areas , children are restricted from meeting different kinds of people, they merely meet their parents, friends or neighbors every day.
