The line graph demonstrates the percentage of total spending in a certain European country over the course of 40 years.

 

It is clear that spending on food, leisure, clothing and fuel/energy experiences a downward trend with the exception of transport. In particular, the expenditure in food reagisters the highest firgure.

 

In 1960, 35% was spent on food, nearly doubling that of leisure at just under 20%.  During the same time, a marginally less money was allocated for clothing and tranport, stood at about 10% each. Allocations for fuel/energy were insignificant, with its figure being just over 5%.

 

Over the next 40 years,spending on food underwent a marginal decrease, dropped by nearly 15% in 2000. A similar trend was witnessed in leisure, clothing and fuel/energy, with all three categories fell to 11%, 5%,3% respectively. By contrast, there was a growth of the expenditure on transport, with a rise of 15% over the period shown.
