TASK 1

The bar chart illustrates the number of carbon emissions of six different countries in 1975, 1990 and 2005.

The amount of carbon emissions produced by Germany and the UK reduced slightly, whereas there was an upward trend in the number of other countries.

In 1975, the USA produced over 1200000 thousand metric tonnes, it continues to rise significantly and reaches the top of 1600000 thousand metric tonnes in 2005. On the other hand, in the first year, just about 300000 thousand metric tonnes were measured in China. However, in 2005 the number of carbon emissions increased dramatically to over 1500000 thousand metric tonnes.

By contrast, in 1975 the number of carbon emissions in Germany was the highest among 4 countries (Germany, the UK, Canada, and India), at about 300000 thousand metric tonnes, it decreased slightly to just over 200000 thousand metric tonnes in 2005. In 1990, there was a moderate decline in the number of carbon emissions in the Uk at about well over 100000 thousand metric tonnes and went up again in 2005, while the number in Canada and India continue to go up at nearly 2000000 thousand metric tonnes and over 300000 thousand metric tonnes, respectively.
