These days, more and more people are going to other countries for significant period of time, either to find a job or to study. there are clearly main benefits to do this, but people who live abroad can also face some difficulties. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of living and working in a foreign country.

It is true that there has been a significant increase in the number of those who tend to work or study abroad in this day and age. While this trend has many benefits, there are also some drawbacks which are worth considering.

On the one hand, there are some crucial reasons for moving abroad. Firstly, heading overseas helps broaden one’s horizons. In fact, there are a great number of chances for people who work or study overseas to interact with others from different cultural backgrounds, that is, to cope with foreign customs and food with the result that they will have a great deal of precious experience in life. Secondly, working or studying abroad can potentially lead to better quality of life. Taking Asian countries as an example, thousands of people have been migrating to the US year after year, which is often known as an American dream, with the hope that this decision could possibly secure much improved living conditions.

On the other hands, overseas nationals may face numerous challenges as well. One of the most obvious problems is culture shock. Every so often, it is likely that those spending a long time in other countries find it hard to cope with the language barrier or the food and culture differences. This can result in homesickness and in some cases, a sense of isolation. Another issue is that it is probably difficult to start a new life from scratch. In other words, on moving abroad, people have to make new friends and find their place in a brand-new community, which requires a range of time and endeavors and is challenging should there be a language barrier to deal with.

Taking these points into considerations, a substantial rise has been seen in the number of people working or studying overseas. It is my belief, nonetheless, that people should weigh up the pros and cons of this trend before making their decision.
