The three pie charts illustrate the proportion of five different types of books sold from 1972 to 2012.

Overall, the percentage of fiction books increased gradually, while there was a steady decrease in the popularity of other categories of books during the period shown.

In 1972, around 20% of books about adult fiction was sold. This figure rose slightly to 25% in 1992 and to 45% in 2012.By contrast, the proportion of books about biography decreased steadily over the 40-year period, from 20% in 1972 to 8% in 2012.

The percentage of other books was only 25% in 1972. However, this figure was doubled to 12% in 2012. In contrast, the popularity of books about children’s fiction climbed gradually from 20% in 1972 to 25% in 2012. The figure for travel book fluctuated and it reached a peak of 18% in 1992.

The three presented pie charts illustrate the market share of five distinct types of books sold from 1972 to 2012.
Overall, except for a gradual rise of propotion of fiction books, a steady decrease was noticed in other categories of books during the shown period.In fact, Adult fiction was most popular, whereas biography books lost their fans and stood in the last place at the end of the day .
Turning into detail, the adult fiction gernes was accounted for 20% in 1972, followed by the same percentage of the biography section. However, while the former rose gradually to 25% in 1995 and 45% at the end of the period, the latter faced an opposite fate, plummeted to 8% in 2012.

Regarding the remaining types of books, 25% of other books contributed to the sales in 1975, before reduced to nearly half compared to the begining of the period. By contrast, the share of fiction books for children climbed steadily from 20% in 1972 to 25% in 40-years periods. The figure for travel book witnessed an general fluctuation throughout the period, reaching a peak of 18% once in 1992.
