Question

Topic: Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Children should be required to help with household tasks as soon as they are able to do so. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

People have different views about whether or not children should be oblidged to help with household chores as soon as they able to do so. While some people hold the view that children should spend more time playing with friends or exploring new things, others argue that children should also have responsibility to help their parents with housework. Personally, I am convinced by the latter point. This essay will grant us a chance to discuss the issue in more detail.

Firstly, Involving the children in household tasks can help them develop life-enhancing skills. For example, children can contribute their effort to their family with some simple regular chores like tidying up the room, watering the tree or even cooking the meal. In other words, doing domestic chore also give them experience of relationship skills. If homeworks are just solo missions for kids, then I believe that houseworks are more of teamwork tasks.

On the other hand, asking children to perform tasks around the house will helps them to develop a sense of responsibility. In particular, children can shows their responsibility to their family by small things such as doing the dishes or sweeping  the floor after dinner. As a result, children can share burden with their parents and increase their family’s happiness.

In conclusion, many people still hold opposite view about whether children should be assigned household tasks, I strongly believe that housework is much better for children’s development.
