It is a hotly debated topic that whether people should learn a foreign language in their own countries, or study a new language in the country in which it is spoken. From my perspectives, I greatly nominate the later way of studying. There are three significant benefits to consider that mentality: efficiency, interaction and culture.
First of all, it is the aspect of efficiency that makes studying a foreign language in its native land the best way to master a new language. It is a common knowledge that language skills that include speaking, writing, reading and listening can only studied most effectively by involvement in foreign environment. The four skills, which are practiced every day and in every case can be developed a lot in order not only to serve as language perfection but also life preparation. More remarkably, studying a foreign language in a foreign country provides the accuracy in language usage. As can be seen, compared a person living in the U.S, with one who studies English in Vietnam within the same time, the first person, obviously, is a more precise English speaker as well as a more proper English writer. That is how accuracy influences an individual that spend time studying language in a different country.
Secondly, it can’t be denied that studying a foreign language in its native country facilitates the language users more in terms of interaction. Living in a foreign country, a person may access to daily language that is not taught in his/her own nation. That inclination to both formal and informal language will assist him/her a lot in study or future’s career in which colloquial language is mainly used in communication. More importantly, the interaction in language can lead to favorable attitude in study process. Because studying, in this way, is fun and easy, the outcome will greatly be accelerated. Therefore, interaction is beneficial in language learning.
Thirdly, culture is another factor that makes up for the success of language learners. It is clearly acknowledged that learning a language from its tradition, customs is the smartest way because it takes us to the formation of that language and culture. Tracing back to the history, is a good way of attaining its tradition, which matters a lot how that language changed. In addition, activities in foreign language help us to pick up that unfamiliar ways of thinking naturally. Because they are usually fun and interesting, we are engaged a lot through our participation. Culture, in this way, works as an avenue to develop language skills, which are central in the language studying process.
All in all, efficiency, interaction and culture are regarded as three most essential factors contributing to studying process in a foreign land. It is highly recommended that language learners take my opinion into consideration for their own future’s success.
