The relationship between happiness and economic success has always been a controversial problem. Some people assent to the idea that they directly associate together whereas the others deem that apart from economic success, happiness is also influenced by other different factors. In this essay, both views surrounding the elements of happiness will be discussed before I can make a conclusion.
On one side of the argument, it cannot be denied that richness plays an important role in individual’s happiness in some aspects of life. First and foremost, for the purposes of entertainment, healthcare or advanced education, the wealthy allegedly enjoy their life. To some extent, not only can the rich take a regular health insurance but they can also mentally relish any kind of entertainment; or even be educated with progressive education systems. More than that, inherited economic success, rich people assuredly pursuit their passions. They can do what they want, buy almost everything they love. One last thing is that the wealthy probably do charity works. For instance, they can provide the impoverished with grants as well as relief works.
On the opposite side of this argument, other people think that happiness, however, does not totally depend on economic success but other mental factors. The first one is health. One good illustration of this is that with good physical condition, people are satisfied simply because it is not necessary for them to care about the health hazards such as cancer, Parkinsonism or rheumatism. Additionally, based on relationships, exhilaration also comes from personal acquaintances. Take, kinships, as an example, relatives would be the best ones to share ecstatic times, especially in festival occasions when all family members are together. Last but not least, happiness derives from your personality. The reason for believing this is that only when living optimistically and extrovertly can people enjoy life absolutely. As a result, people will find out happiness from trivial things in life or from their own dreams, ambitions or passions.
Considering all argument put forward I have arrived at the conclusion that happiness is affected by both material and mental factors. However, to my standpoint, I believe that people are more likely to spiritually delight.
