Education plays a vital role for the development of a country. While some people argue that the cost of education should be paid by the governments, I strongly believe that tuition should come from students.
There are several reasons why the state should take full responsibility in providing free education for students. Firstly, inhabitants are obliged to pay high amount of taxes, even though who are less fortunate, which makes a large profit for the government and proves that they can charge for college education. Secondly, university education expenditures are much higher compared to school level education. Therefore, their parents cannot bear the burden of sending students to a university, especially if there are two or more students in a family. It would also be unfair to reject an outstanding student's application who has performed well in his academic career just because he or she has no money to pay for the fees.
On the other hand, I can understand the arguments against government funding for universities. I suppose that the government has another many concerns such as hospitals, organizations, environment and so forth, which they must pay attention on instead of meeting the payment for undergraduate students. Besides, pushing for everyone to go to college does not automatically make those students university-ready, it reduces the overall standards of higher education. This has led to a high dropout rate, more repeated classes for those in school. Additionally, if students bear the full expense annual on their own, they can understand the responsibility for their studies so as to get a high degree. Meanwhile, students who already possess basic knowledge and are old enough to find a part-time job in order to pay for their own studies if their parent cannot afford it.
In conclusion, it seems to me that it would be wrong to support students with free of charge and I think that high education must make it worthwhile for students to study.
