Some children spend hours every day on their smartphones. Why is this the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative development?

Some individuals are of the opinion that some teenagers use their phones for hours each day. The main reason for this case is due to their parents’ education. I believe that it could lead to an adverse effect on the growth of juveniles because it can be harmful to their health.

There are numerous reasons why adolescents spend their time on smartphones, and the major one is their parents. Firstly, most families treat their children with neglect and indulge their children too much. Parents always want their offspring to receive all the best things, so they allow their children to use phones early. As a result, this can lead to a bad habit which is using mobile phones for long hours during the day. Secondly, parents’ behavior has a direct impact on teenagers. Parents are busy with their work. Thus, they do not spend as much time with their children such as being unable to take their offspring out, or cannot talk with their children about their school, their friends, and so on. These can make juveniles feel self-pity and immerse themselves in mobile phones.

Unfortunately, spending long hours on smartphones causes a lot of diseases in terms of metal and physical health. To begin with, using phones for long hours throughout the day increases the risk of overweight or obesity in adolescents because of their less exercising. The proof is that in some studies, researchers said that a person who spends time on regular exercising has better health than a person who just uses a mobile phone during the day. Alternatively, using smartphones too much has an adverse impact on the mental health of children. Overusing phones can disrupt their sleep, which impacts their memories, affects their abilities to think clearly, and reduces their cognitive and learning skills. Otherwise, phones contribute to increased depression rates. Teenagers who constantly use their phones are less happy than those who take part in non-screen activities, for instance.

In conclusion, these days, more and more children are likely to spend their time on smartphones during the day. The main reason for this problem is the wrong education of parents. Consequently, it could affect children’ health.
