Question

The given line graph illustrates the percentage of goods transported in the United Kingdom by road, water, rail, and pipeline over a period of 28 years, starting from 1974 to 2002.

It is clear that the number of goods transported in all mention models saw an upward trend over the period shown. Moreover, the number of goods were shipped via road was highest.

As can be seen from the live graph, in 1974, 70 milLion tonnes of commodities were transported by road which grown significantly around 97 million tonnes at the end of the period (2002), whereas pipeline began with approximately 2 million tonnes of goods at the same time. The statistic rose more than 20 million tonnes of good were delivered in the year 2002.

In terms of the commodities that were shipped through rail and water transported 40 million tonnes in 1974 and this went up and down several times. In detail, the proportion of goods transported by water were increased about 62 million tonnes in 2002, but the opposite was true for the figure for rail which still maintained the same number of the year 1974 (40 million tonnes) before had the decline between 1986 and 1994 ( 35 million tonnes of goods).
