Studies suggest that many teenagers these days prefer socialising online to meeting one another in person.   Why do you think this is the case?   What measures could be taken to encourage teenagers to spend more time meeting one another in person?

In modern settings, it is an inevitable fact that people, especially the young, tend to connect online with others rather than directly meet. I would argue that there are two principal reasons why communicating online is increasing prevalent and some steps should be taken to stimulate young people to meet one another face-to-face.
The foremost cause of this tendency is that the bloom of social network online makes it much more convenient for teenagers to socialise with each other. For example, people are able to seat in their living room and have conversations with many friends at once time from different locations over the world by Google Meets. Furthermore, virtual meetings on the Internet make adolescents more confident to contact other individuals. It is because most of them often worry about their appearances when they are outsides, so socialising online may help the young to comfortably chat with their peers.
In my view, one of the viable solution is that the government should support local authorities in improving and creating more public spaces for the young. For instance, new parks are very likely to encourage young people to gather with their friends and talk directly with each other. Besides, clubs after school time for adolescent are also another feasible step for this situation. That the young can join the clubs, such as chess club, young leader group, or dance club helps them not only gain more real experience but also have opportunities to communicate with friends who share interests with them.
All things considered, although the tendency of socialising via the Internet has some drawbacks for teenagers, steps can be taken to motivate the young populace to have more chances to meet each other in person.
