As technology has developed, people can now travel to remote natural areas. Both the advantages and disadvantages of this trend will be thoroughly discussed in this essay.
On the one hand, there are some minor advantages caused by travel to some remote natural environment. Firstly, scientists might have more opportunities to collect samples and observe the environment in order to achieve their research goals. Another benefit of this trend is that tourists in those remote places can provide more job opportunities to local people. As a result, this helps rural communities earn more profits, which improves their living standards. Moreover, tourist have a chance to visit newer and more spectacular landscapes on earth. Amazon rainforest located in South America or Son Doong cave in Viet Nam is one of the most example for this statement.
However, there are some significant drawbacks to this trend. Trips to remote regions involved a lot of risks because we do not know much about the area. For instance, the temperature at the South Pole is usually very low, which adversely affects people's health. Travelling to forests can also be dangerous as people have to face the risk of being attacked by animals. In addition, because visiting isolated places often requires a large amount of investment in researching and ensuring the safety of travellers, the costs of travelling tend to be high. Secondly, tourism development could put pressure on natural resources. For example, by building tourism facilities such as accommodation, restaurant and road infrastructures could lead to land degradation, soil and sand erosion and the loss of wildlife habitats.
In conclusion, the permission for travellers to secluded places will create favourable conditions for not only researchers but also normal travellers. Nevertheless, in my opinion, the drawbacks it brings to the ecosystem is insurmountable, far outweighing the aforementioned benefits
