Vietnam's economy has been benefited a lot thanks to tourism. However, the development of this has also resulted in some negative effects on the environment. What do you think are the main environmental problems and what solutions would you suggest?

Nowadays, the development of the travel industry has played a crucial role in the Vietnamese economy. Unfortunately, this also does great harm to the country’s environment. As a result, some main environmental issues arise, which requires practical solutions.

The primary problems about the environment include air and water pollution. More tourists visiting the nation means more harmful chemicals from vehicles or factories like carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide are released into the atmosphere. This tendency could eventually pollute the air, especially in densely-populated cities, as well as creating the greenhouse effect. In addition, Vietnam is very well-known for its pristine beaches, but many of them have been severely contaminated because travelers dump wastes into the seas. This leads to the intoxication or even death of sea animals and eventually affects biodiversity.

From where I stand, such matters can be resolved by developing sustainable tourism. To begin with, the government should encourage ecotourism among both tourists and people working in the tourism sector. In other words, they should promote the use of friendly materials in tourism and impose strict bans on environmental pollution. However, not only the authorities but also each individual must take the responsibility for ensuring the cleanliness of the environment. We should educate ourselves of the current environmental issues so as to take action and reduce the detrimental effects of tourism in simple ways.

In conclusion, tourism in Vietnam has undergone important changes, which has negative influence on the environment, water and air pollution in particular. Only when the officials and citizens work together can we solve these issues and maintain the sustainability of tourism.
