The chart shows the results of surveys in one African country asking teenagers the main reasons for using their phones between 2016 and 2019.   Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.   You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

 

The chart gives information about the percentage of teenagers using their phones for some different reasons, namely social networks, email, digital camera and phone calls in an African country from 2016 to 2019. 

It can be seen that the great number of teenagers used their phones for social networking while phone calls were the least used feature. 

Of the data gathered, almost half of teenagers were interested in social networks in 4 years.  The number of them decreased slightly from 50% in 2016 to 48% in 2017, but increased to 56% in 2019. By contrast, The percentage of teenagers using their phones for calls showed 3% increase between 2016 to 2017, then reached an insignificant minority (5%) in 2019. 

In terms of the rest reasons, email was the second main reason for using phones, with about 22% of teenagers over the period. The young users for digital cameras remained stable at 15 % in two first years before rising to 20% in 2019.

    Overall, what stands out from the charts is that the purpose of using social networks accounted for the highest percentage. However, the lowest figure went for making phone calls.

     The reason for social networks took up half in 2016, and it remained stable for the next 2 years. This percentage then slightly rose to 56% in 2019. Besides, 15% of the students used the phone for digital cameras in 2016 and 2017. That purpose witnessed an insignificant increase by 3% and 5% in 2019 and 2020, respectively.

      There was one-fourth of students' sending emails in the first year of the period shown, and this proportion steadily decreased to 19% in 2019 afterward. Making phone calls was a considerably erratic figure when it stood at 10% in 2016, and later climbed to 13% in 2017. Finally, it experienced a drop in its number by 2% and 6% in 2018 and 2019, severally.
