In this constantly changing world, individual education is now gaining much concern. There has been a heated debate over whether school or family should take the responsibility to educate children to become good citizens. This essay will discuss both points of view.

On the one hand, it is generally believed that parents should teach their own children. The first reason is that parents are close to their offsprings. They understand their children’s characteristics and love them very much. Parents are those who teach children the most basic qualities since early childhood such as honesty, love and respect. These qualities play as precursors to children’s development and have a considerable influence on their becoming useful citizens.

On the other hand, there is a growing body of evidence that school is a suitable place to learn the qualities to become good members of society. At school, children have interaction with their teachers and peers through all kinds of lessons and projects. By this way, children can learn social skills that parents are too close to teach them. For example, teamwork can teach children co-operation, lessons can teach them punctuality and teachers can also teach them respect and responsibility. All of these qualities can have a key impact on their careers and adult life, boosting their chance of promotion and raising their life standard.

In conclusion, both family and school should pay much attention to educating children. As learning to become good citizens is a life-long and thorough process, it is the responsibility of all people to help them develop in an accurate way.
