International communication has long been perceived as a key of success to everyone in the era of globalization. Some authorities assume that pupils should better study another language at elementary school instead of secondary school. This essay will argue that the advantages of this outweigh the drawbacks.
The main reason starting kids off learning foreign languages early is that their ability to remember at this time is the best. To be more specific, only when they were a child, are their brains clean as a sheet of paper, thus we could write on it wherever we want with no obstacle. A recent survey reveals that children under 12 years old have ability to recall everything by hearing, and hardly ever would they forget it. When they grow up to teenagers, this ability transfers to recalling by visibility. This explain why almost secondary school children feel harder to acquire knowledges than the younger. Moreover, learning second language from a child can help them have far more years to perfect their skills. In other words, this increase the likelihood they will achieve in adulthood. Take Holland as an obvious reflection to illustrate that point. Holland’s children are taught English from very young age, which leads to the result that more than 95% of adult speak English at an advance level.
Those opposed to this say that it causes a huge pressure on children because they have to learn many things in school. They assume that it is unbearable and their children are likely to lose the childhood. Nevertheless, there is actually no evidence to support this view. The parents are totally able to arrange their kids’ schedule and timetable in which balancing the time for inside and outside activities.
On balance, the fact that not only can learning foreign languages from a child help kids easier to remember but also achieve fluency outweigh the argument that it has negative impacts on children.
