Some experts believe that it is better for children to begin learning a foreign language at primary school rather than secondary school. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

A number of experts hold the view that learning another language at the primary stage would be more beneficial for young students compared to at the middle level of education. Although there are some drawbacks, the returns of this pedagogy are highly justifiable.

There are various reasons why children should begin to learn a different language at the early age. First, study a new language at the primary level helps to enhance children’s cognitive abilities. Accordingly, listening to a new way to describe the same things as well as exposing to new styles of thinking about one problem could strengthen the flexibility of their mind. In the long run, this would lead to better academic performance on higher education. Another reason is that getting to know a new language early could increase children’s awareness about the world. For example, through the reading comprehension task designed in text books, not only can children’s cultural knowledge be enriched but also can their global communication skills be developed; therefore, this could help them to have better career progression and an improved quality of life.

On the other hand, some argue that let students learn second language too early would reduce time to focus on key subjects such as Math and Literature. As a result, their numeracy and literacy skills would not be sufficient enough to keep on the secondary education. In addition, some children with less ability in language might be put under stress when studying foreign language. As they have to deal with the language lessons just to compete their classmate, this would result in adverse impacts to their grow-up progress.

In conclusion, despite several negative effects, get children exposing to foreign language before entering high school could bring huge benefits for children’s development.

As a result, their numeracy and literacy skills would not be sufficient enough to ... -> repetitive

As they have to deal with the language lessons just to compete their classmates, this would result in adverse impacts to their grow-up progress. -> 2 subjects are plural, so which one does "their" refer to? I know, but some might be confused.
