It is undeniable that tourism has become the heart of economies around the world and tourism industry has brought enormous benefits to a country’s development; nevertheless, growing tourism sector also has some drawbacks such as environmental pollution or increased crime rates. To address these issues, improving the administration policy and tourists’ understanding are the major solutions.
First of all, government could impose harsh penalties for littering. This is clearly seen in the case when people having penchant for polluting resources such water supply, beaches, coral reefs or heritage sites; city can punish them thousands of dollar. Not only do this drastic measure alleviate environmental degradation, but the habitat of wild animals will also be safely protected. Although strict punishment may curb in the number of travelers, preserving a natural sustainable environment is much more essential.
Secondly, authorities need to stimulate people to enhance knowledge of tourism issues. Many countries, for instance, launch tree-growing and waste-recycling from tourism places campaigns annually; therefore, environmental destruction is considerably lessened. Moreover, it is necessary that boosting security to prevent criminal activities increase. Obviously, additional security forces could make the tour or festivals safe and secure for both visitors and local residents
In conclusion, despite of the obvious positive aspects, tourism has a number of complex issues. This requires government intervention and humans’ attitude to tackle these problems on large scale.
