Nowadays, many people cannot read or write. What problems does this cause? What measures can governments take to solve these problems?

In recent decades, due to the booming development of the media and information industry, people have been more likely to get stuck in processing information, especially in reading and writing. Although it is undeniable that it has become a flag problem for the government to consider, they are not without solutions.

There are a number of reasons why improving reading and writing skills are facing either employees or students. First, since the majority of learners have considered those two skills independent of each other, while reading skills have affected much to the content of the essay, they usually reversed the process to write. In fact, writers could not write a high-quality essay if they were not rich in vocabulary and possess extensive fundamentals about relevant topics. Second, readers usually do not have their own purposes for reading but follow the crowd, who do not actually know how to choose the right book. This acts as a deterrent for readers to the deep-meaningful books, which steadily deteriorate their knowledge and their writing ability.

Nevertheless, there have been many good solutions for government to overcome this situation. First, by setting a learning workshop in order to spread the benefits of reading and writing, the government could attract a group of newcomers to the community. In fact, the young generation tends to pay their intention for seeking opportunities to learn from conventions hosted by the government where they could gain a myriad of experiences from the specialists. Second, governments should collect and bring the latest documents to the study curriculum. This affects not only the students but also forces the teaching staff to continually update new knowledge in order to stay competitive in the labor market, which eventually develops the quality of the school system.

In conclusion, although weakness in reading and writing can cause a whole host of issues, there are still many practical solutions. By funding more in spreading and teaching, the government could take steps to build a strong learning community, especially in reading and writing.
