Gender issue has recently been a main problem throughout the histories. In terms of educational matter, it is believed that universities should accept the equal quantity of men and women applying for each subject. Although I agree that both males and females should have the same opportunities to study, but in my opinion, they need not to set fixed limit on the number of men and women who would study in each subject. The bases for my view are psychologically and personally.
Psychologically – speaking, men and women obtain the different characteristics that make them strong and outstanding in certain fields. For example, females tend to be gentle, emotional, caring, thoughtful, patient and so on. Therefore, they usually choose the suitable professions such as teaching, nursing. As a result, the equal number for men and women in each subject is impossible when each gender has interests and potential which leads people to the choice of the subject.
Personally, choosing the subject is an individual matter that everyone need to discover their true calling. Once those who know what they desire in life and practice on the daily basis, they will able to gain confidence to choose the major in universities. For instance, if a girl has a passion for English teaching, she will wish to instruct others to understand and use the language. Over the times, she gains the knowledge and practice skills, she obviously makes a decision to study teaching major. Universities must understand equality is giving applicants chances to apply if they are fit to the standard criteria.
In conclusion, gender equality is a problem that we would like to solve to give both genders their equal choice they deserve. To increase this, we need to look for the potential in each individual regardless of gender.
